The English prelate of the Roman Catholic church Henry Edward Manning (1808-1892) was the second Archbishop of Westminster. Manning attended Harrow School and subsequently Balliol College, Oxford graduating with political ambitions. Working as a clerk in the Colonial Office, his thoughts turned towards a clerical career. He was subsequently elected as a fellow of Merton College and was ordained as a deacon in the Church of England. He married John Sargent's daughter Caroline. Of frail health, Caroline died within a few years and Manning's theology came to be influenced by the High Church. He converted to Roman Catholicism in 1851 and in 1875 Manning was created Cardinal-Priest of Ss Andrea e Gregorio al Monte Celio. Very good .
