The English artist Frederick Richard Lee (1798-1879) was born in Vleesch Band, South Africa. Lee enrolled as a student at the Royal Academy at the age of 19 and was later elected as an Associate of the Royal Academy in 1834 and subsequently a full member in 1838. A prolific artist, Lee was influenced by John Constable and other contemporaries. In addition to his solo work, he collaborated with Thomas Sidney Cooper and Sir Edwin Landseer to produce some of his most notable paintings. Lee would paint the landscapes with Cooper and Landseer adding animals. Good .
