Description: United Kingdom, May 25th, 1900. 1900. - The Scottish landscape painter David Murray's autograph within the text of a partial note penned on the top portion of 3-1/2 inch high by 4-3/8 inch wide "I, Langham Chambers, Portland Place, W." stationery. Referring to himself in the third person, Murray writes "David Murray extremely regrets being unable to accept the kind invitation.." The line of text which follows has been partially clipped away. The slightly soiled fragment has been mounted with glue from the verso onto slightly larger card stock. Very good.

The Scottish landscape painter David Murray (1849-1933) became an Associate of the Royal Scottish Academy in 1881 and his painting "My Love has gone a-Sailing" was purchased for the Tate Gallery. He became a member of The Royal Academy in 1905 and was knighted in 1918. Very good .
