Born in Cayuga, New York, the American singer & songwriter Ossian Euclid Dodge (1820-1876) was known for his genteel comic songs. Dodge was known to move in political circles and was acquainted with Henry Clay, Millard Fillmore, and William E. Seward. His political interests led to his being selected to join the 1851 delegation for the World's Peace Congress in London. Through his relationship with Ada Clare, Ossian Dodge was associated with the NYC bar, Pfaff's, which was modeled on the German Rathskellers and served as a center of Bohemian culture of the period. Abstaining from alcohol, one of his compositions included the "Temperance Shout of Liberty". Dodge is also known for his songs "Level and the Square", "My Darling Boy", "Barnyard Serenade", and "The Beggar and his Dog", among others. Good .
