Title: Autograph Note Signed by American Architect William Edward Parsons on a Copy of a Brochure Announcing Columbia University's Sixth Competition for the Mckim Fellowships in Architecture.
Description: (New York): Columbia University, (1901). (1901). - Quarto [approximately 11 inches high by 8-1/2 inches wide], softcover. An autograph note is penciled on the top right corner of the first page of a 4-page brochure printed on cream colored paper with the fourth side left blank. Signed "W. E. Parsons". The edges of the first page are slightly darkened & there is some staining to its top edge, affecting a few letters of the note. There is a small stain to the bottom edge of each page. Good. Parsons notes on the brochure that "Enquiries will probably be made Friday of this week, will send place and date later -". William Edward Parsons [1872-1939] was an American architect who earned a B.S. degree from Columbia University,studied at the Ecole des Beaux Arts and received a B.F.A. from Yale. He later became a consulting architect to the U.S. government in the Philippines, moved to Chicago where he worked as an architect until 1938 and served for a year as associate professor of architecture at Yale. Among his important designs were the United States Botanical Gardens and the Federal Trade Commission Building. Good .
