The dw copy comments that the plural "lives" in the title of Meynell's autobiography is amply justified. "He is perhaps best known for his universally admired Nonesuch Press and for his influence on book design in general. But in this book we get the whole man: childhood and youth in a literary family..; conscientious objector in World War I..; fiery journalist in the teens and twenties of the century..; amateur of intrigue with the pre-Stalin Bolsheviks; official rationing advisor in World War II.. Very good .
