Pinchas Goldhar [1901-1947] was an important Australian Yiddish writer. He was born in Lodz, Poland and worked as a journalist there before emigrating in 1926 to Australia, where he became active in the Jewish cultural life of Melbourne, writing reviews on Yiddish literature and theatre. He edited the newspaper "Australier Leben" from1931 to 1933. His work was published in Yiddish and Hebrew and in translation in English. Most of his writings were published posthumously.
Noel Couniham was an artist of the 1930s & '40s, well-known for his depictions of Jewish life.
