John D. Carter [1874-1945] was born in Chester County, Pennsylvania. He was a research chemist with the firms Carter & Scattergood of Philadelphia and the Philadelphia Quartz Company. He was a keen ornithologist and a devoted member of the Society of Friends. For many years he served as Clerk of his local Meeting at Lansdowne, his Quarterly Meeting and the Philadelphia Yearly Meeting. Very good .
