Together with an 85 word typed letter signed by Margaret Deland's long-time friend and secretary Alice Rollins which accompanied the autographed card. In her letter, typed on 7 inch high by 5-1/2 inch wide creamy white paper, Alice Rollins explains: "The words 'Consider the Stars' which Mrs. Deland has written on this card, she says help her to see things in their right proportion: when we consider the universe, especially as we observe the heavens and think of the immensity of space, our own troubles and worries seem less important". There is a chip to the right edge and there is offsetting to the left and bottom edges of the letter. There are remnants of tape on the verso, likely from having once been mounted in an album. Very good.
Margaret Deland [1857-1945] was an American novelist, short story writer and poet. She also wrote an autobiography in two volumes. She is generally considered part of the literary realism movement. Very good .
