The American comedian, actor, singer & Jazz musician Phil Harris (1904-1995) began his career as a drummer with Carol Lofner in San Francisco. He led a band in Los Angeles and also played drums in the Henry Halstead Big Band Orchestra. He won an Academy Award for best live action short subject for his RKO film "So This Is Harris", and starred in "Melody Cruise" and "I Love a Bandleader", and played roles in "The Wild Blue Yonder" and "The High and the Mighty" with John Wayne. He became musical director of "The Jell-O Show Starring Jack Benny" (later "The Jack Benny Program) in 1936 and joined the cast. He married his second wife, the singer-actress Alice Faye in 1941 and, after a stint in the Navy during the war years, went on to co-host "The Fitch Bandwagon". The show started as a showcase for big bands but soon became a situation comedy renamed "The Phil Harris-Alice Faye Show". He returned to the big screen in the 1956 film "Good-bye, My Lady" and made numerous television guest appearances. He went on to take on roles as a voice actor in animated films such as "The Jungle Book", providing the voice for Baloo the Bear, "The Aristocats" and "Robin Hood". Very good .
