Description: December 28, 1934. 1934. - Hugh S. Johnson's return address preceded by his signature on a 3-7/8 inch high by 4-5/8 inch wide partly triangular flap cut from an envelope. A black mourning border frames the edges of the flap. Very good.

The U.S. Army officer, businessman, speech writer, government official and newspaper columnist Hugh Samuel Johnson (1881-1942) was a member of President Franklin Delano Roosevelt's Brain Trust. A speechwriter for the President, he helped plan the New Deal and was appointed head of the National Recovery Administration. Very good .
