Description: January 5th, 1932. 1932. - A sheet of cream note paper is folded once to form 4 sides, each approximately 6-1/2 inches high by 5 inches wide. An autograph collector's letter is penned on the 1st side. Inscribed and signed by Fess on the upper half of the 4th side: "With best wishes / Simeon D. Fess / Jany 5th 1932". The autographed side is slightly soiled with its bottom right corner creased. Folded once for mailing. Good.
Ohio native Simeon D. Fess [1861-1936] taught law and history at Ohio Northern University and the University of Chicago. He was vice president of ONU from 1900 to 1902 and president of Antioch College of Yellow Springs from 1907 to 1917. He subsequently entered politics, serving as a Republican member of the U.S. House of Representatives from Ohio from 1915-1923 and as U.S. Senator from Ohio from 1923 to 1935. He was Chair of the Republican National Committee from 1930 to 1932. Good .
