Inscribed on the title page and signed with his initials by D. S. Marriott. Marriott was born in Nottingham, England in 1963 of Jamaican parentage and was educated at the University of Sussex. He taught at that university and has since taught at the University of California, Santa Cruz. He is the author of "On Black Men" [University Presses of Edinburgh and Columbia, 2000]. His first full-length collection of poems was "Incognegro [Salt Publishing, 2005].
