In Kinsolving's novel, Fletcher Christian who led the mutiny on the Bounty and forced Captain Bligh overboard, only to fall into the midst of a native uprising in the Pitcairn Islands, escapes and frees the lovely Englishwoman Daphne from privateers. They separate after being rescued, and Fletcher, on the run from the authorities and Captain Bligh, finds himself embroiled in the sea battles of the Napoleonic wars. His only wish is to see Daphne again. Fine .
