Vinal, Harold. (1891-1965). Maine poet and publisher of the  poetry magazine

Title: Typed Letter Signed by Poet and "Voices" Publisher Harold Vinal, Rejecting Poems by John Hyde Preston.
Description: New York: November 28th, 1925. 1925. - 77 words typed on a cream-colored sheet of "Voices" poetry magazine letterhead, approximately 10 inches high by 7-1/4 inches wide. Signed "Harold Vinal". Folded twice for mailing with a tiny chip to the left edge at the lower fold. Near fine.

Vinal writes to historical fiction writer John Hyde Preston: "I'm genuinely sorry that neither of these poems seems quite suited to my present needs. These continued negatives seem a bit ungracious, but they are not intended to be so. In conducting a poetry magazine, which is an expression of an indiviudual taste, one must be consistent with one's convictions.."

Harold Vinal [1891-1965] was a poet from Maine. Many of his poems are about the sea and about Vinalhaven where he was born. He founded and was the publisher and editor of the magazine "Voices: An Open Forum for the Poets". Very good .
