John Van Schaick Lansing Pruyn [1811-1877] was a New York Democratic politician of Dutch descent, Van Schaick, Lansing and Pruyn all being prominent Dutch family names in upstate New York. Pruyn was U.S. representative from New York from December 1863 to March 1865. He was elected a member of the Albany Institute in 1831 and served as its president from 1857 until his death. Good .
