Zhu Qizhan [1892-1996] was a professor, dean of the Western Fine Art School of Shanghai Academy of Fine Arts and an advisor to the Chinese Artists Association. He was banned from painting when the Cultural revolution began in 1966 and did not resume his work until 1976. He exhibited at the British Museum in London and at San Francisco's Asian Art Museum, and held fifteen exhibitions in New York. He was the only Chinese master artist to develop a relationship with a foreign art gallery. The Shanghai government built a museum in his name in 1995. Fine .
