Sylvia Stahlman [1929-1998] was an American soprano who excelled in coloratura roles. After studying at Juillard and appearing on Broadway in Kurt Weill's "Love Life" [1948-49], she left for Europe to begin a career in opera, performing at first under the name Giulia Bardi. She made her debut at La Monnaie in Brussels as Elvira in I Puritani [1951]. She also sang in Amsterdam, Frankfurt and Vienna and at the Glyndebourne Festival in England. In America she appeared at the New York City Opera, the San Francisco Opera, the Lyric Opera of Chicago and the Santa Fe Opera. Good .
