Description: (1954). (1954). - The 9 inch high by 7-1/8 inch wide black & white photograph by Marcus Adams depicts the young Prince Charles posing for a photograph to celebrate his birthday. Distributed by the International News Photo with their stamp on the verso. There is a small crease to the top left corner and edges are curling in. The top edge of the verso is darkened. Very good.
Intended for publication in newspapers of the period with text for a press release accompanying the photograph printed in type on paper mounted to the the bottom of the photo from the verso. The text of the press release reads as follows:
"King-to-be is six years old / London, Eng ... A new portrait of Prince Charles, son of Queen Elizabeth II and the Duke of Edinburgh and heir to the throne of England, who is six years old today. The photograph was made especially for the occasion by Marcus Adams. / W.11.13.54".
The Royal Court photographer Marcus Adams (1875-1959) devoted his career to photographing children and captured two generations of Royal children. Very good .
