The Ledyard Free Bridge [as it was named on this occasion], crossed the Connecticut River to connect Hanover, New Hampshire with Norwich, Vermont. It was the first bridge across the Connecticut River without a toll. The address was given at Dartmouth College to an audience of citizens of Hanover and Norwich and students of Dartmouth College and Norwich University. Fair .
