The binding is bumped & there is light soiling to the label. The dust jacket is rubbed, chipped & soiled with small pieces out & with some light staining to its front panel. There is a tear to the top edge of the jacket's front panel. Its spine is partially darkened & there is foxing to its flaps. 151 pages. There is heavy foxing to the pastedowns & endpapers and offsetting to the flyleaf & rear blank. Good.

Signed by Berton Roueche on the half-title.

Berton Roueche [1910-1994] was a medical writer who wrote for the New Yorker for almost fifty years. He also wrote 20 books and many of the medical mysteries on the television show "House" were inspired by his writings. "The Neutral Spirit" explores the history, myths and psychological and physiological effects of alcohol. Good .
