From the library of Jean Stafford with a signed note laid in from Robert Silvers of the New York Review of Books requesting a possible review.
Jean Stafford [1915-1979] was an American short story writer and novelist, who won the 1970 Pulitzer Prize for Fiction for The Collected Stories of Jean Stafford. Stafford apparently never reviewed the Dee Brpwn book. After an angry letter to Robert Silvers in 1971 regarding the editing of her review of Seyersted's biography of Kate Chopin, Stafford ceased writing for the New York Review of Books from 1972.
Robert Silvers [b. 1929] served as editor of the New York Review of Books from 1963. Writers published by him regard him as one of the most brilliant editors ever to have worked at an American magazine. Good .
