A nice association copy inscribed by the composer to fellow composer Virgil Thomson on the front wrap: "For Virgil -- / In admiration of the Virgilian style / Norman". Thomson's circular ownership stamp, "Virgil Thomson Collections" is on the bottom corner of the title page.

"A Psalm of David" was commissioned by the State University of New York, Crane Department of Music, Potsdam State Teachers College, Helen M. Hosmer, Director, for performance at the Potsdam Spring Festival, 1951. Very good .
