Description: [New York]: (Brearley School), 1945. 1945. - Quarto [11 inches high by 8-5/8 inches wide], red cloth with the school's seal stamped in gilt on the front cover. The binding is bumped & there is some bubbling to the cloth of the covers. A small area of each cover is discolored & the tail of the spine is lightly chipped. Unpaginated. Profusely illustrated in black & white with photographic portraits, class photos, cartoons & drawings. Good.

From the library of Emily Dickinson Townsend Vermeule with numerous ink inscriptions to her from fellow students on the pastedowns and endpapers. "E. D. Townsend 1945" is written on the top corner of the front endpaper.

Emily Dickinson Townsend Vermeule [1928-2001] was a classical scholar and archaeologist, author of numerous scholarly works and a popular lecturer. She attended the Brearley School from 1934 to 1946 and then attended Bryn Mawr College. She married Cornelius Clarkson Vermeule in 1957. Good .
