(Kay, John). - The City Tron Men; or, Chimney-Sweepers

Title: The City Tron Men; or, Chimney-Sweepers": Original Etching.
Description: (1837). (1837). - sc A wonderful 7-5/8 inch high by 5 inch wide etching (as measured from the plate mark), on 10-1/2 inch high by 8 inch wide creamy white paper. The image depicts 2 Scottish Chimney-sweepers dressed in kilts. One carries the tools of their trade, a ladder, rope and chimney brush. The men are depicted under a gas street lamp as they walk down a street. A sign on the wall above them advertises the Lottery office of Thomson & Son. There is some minor browning to the edges of the sheet and a spot of foxing at the bottom left corner of the plate mark. Very good.

An illustration from 'Kay's Edinburgh Portraits' by John Kay, published 1837-1838. Very good .
