In his introductory essay, David Galloway variously describes Silbermann's work as assemblages and found art, saying that Silbermann's preferred terminology is "object, mixed-media canvas". He compares Silbermann's microcosms, environments or "Wunderkammerchen" to Joseph Cornell's boxes.

The text is in German with an English translation of Galloway's fairly lengthy essay. Fine .
