Descriptive text about the type face, printed in blue beneath the alphabet, reads: "Die Garamond-Antiqua stammt von dem Pariser Stempelschneider Claude Garramond (1480-1561) und entstandt in der ersten Halfte des 16. Jahrhunderts. In der Helle und Grazie dieser Renaissance-Type kommt die Beweglichkeit romanischen Geistes zu vollendetem Ausdruck". There is soiling o the left edge of the broadside with 4 light vertical creases and with some minor small creases to the edges and corners. There are a couple of tiny spots. A beautiful typographic broadside.

From the estate of the calligrapher Paul Standard, a close friend of Zapf's, who has dated the broadside "1953" in pencil at the bottom.
