Title: Autograph on a Colorful Fabric Used As a Tablecloth, Signed by the Romantic Lead Actor of the 1930's Douglass Montgomery [Aka Kent Douglass].
Description: Circa [1935]. [1935]. - sc - A 51 inch high by 34-1/2 inch wide table covering, complete with wine & ink stains and melted candle wax, boldly signed in ink or black paint by the actor Douglass Montgomery, a leading man and movie star of the 1930's who starred in several MGM productions as Kent Douglass. The fabric, which was apparently used as a cover for a small center or end table is lovingly worn with some fading to the pattern. A fine bold autograph.

A stage actor in his teens, Robert Douglass Montgomery (1907-1966) was wisked up by MGM who, changing his name to Kent Douglass, cast the dashing young man in romantic roles opposite such leading stars as Joan Crawford and Katharine Hepburn. He starred in "Paid" and "Little Women" before the studio changed his name back again. He subsequently played roles in the "Mystery of Edwin Drood", "Harmony Lane" and "The Cat and the Canary". He enlisted and served in the Canadian Army during the war. His return to the screen was hardly noticed and he fell into obscurity. Good .
