Description: circa [1973]. [1973]. - sc Quarto, mechanically reproduced 8-1/2 inch by 11-1/2 inch typescript consisting of title, dedication page & 40 hand-numbered leaves. 2 holes are punched in the left margin of the typescript & it is bound with a plastic clasp into a 13-3/4 inch by 9 inch folder with a clear plastic front cover sheet, a gray stiff paper rear cover sheet & a black plastic backing. The title page is darkened & lightly creased. The bottom corners of the dedication page & the top corners of the remaining leaves are lightly creased, with some staining to the verso of the last leaf. The front cover sheet of the folder is darkened with purple discoloration & the rear cover sheet is soiled, chipped & lightly creased. Good.

Rare pre-publication copy. The poem was most probably created around 1973 when Howell was a participant in the International Writers' Workshop at Iowa City, Iowa. It was published in London by Calder & Boyars in 1975. Good .
