From the library of Peter Matthiessen with a letter to him from his literary agent laid in. The letter accompanies this advance copy of the book and reads, in part: "the agent (and presumably the editor) would love a blurb from you, if you are so inclined. Looks like it might be fun, and very much up your street.."

The English edition of the book was titled "Hooked: An Angler's Journey Through Russia". The title "Hooked" appears on the spine and has been crossed out in black felt pen. The American title is printed on a paper label mounted over the English title on the front wrap.

"In the summer of 1996, Montaigne embarked on a 100 day, 7000 mile trek to fly fish across Russia; This moving account of his adventures provides striking illumination into the lives of common people living in 'eternal' Russia--that vast territory that lies outside the major cities.." [From the rear wrap blurb]. Very good .
