John McCormack was a world-famous Irish tenor known for his performances of the operatic and popular song repertoire. McCormack trained in Italy, became Covent Garden's youngest principal tenor in 1907 and began a career in America in 1909, becoming a citizen in 1917. He made hundreds of recordings, the first on phonograph cylinder in 1904. His most successful records were made for the Victor Talking Machine Company in the 1910s and 1920s. Very good .
