Italian ecclesiastical writer Marco Mastrofini was best known for this work on usury, originally published in Italian in 1831, in which he seeks to prove that "usury" is a relative term subject to different interpretations through the ages. The text is in French.

Mastrofini's book was an important contribution to the evolution of the Roman Catholic stand on usury. There are at least two scholarly commentaries on the work, one as late as 1943. Good .
