Title: The Man Who Died.
Description: London: Martin Secker, 1931. 1931. - Octavo, olive green cloth titled in gilt on the spine with a vignette of a phoenix stamped in gilt on the front cover. The top edge is gilt. The spine & extremities are faded with uneven fading to the rear cover & there is a tiny hole in the spine. There is a small, light stain with some tiny gray marks to the front cover. 97 pages plus colophon. The endpapers are darkened & the bottom margins of the pages are slightly rippled. Good.

First English edition, limited to 2,000 copies, after a Paris Black Sun Press edition under the title "The Escaped Cock".

Inscribed in ink on the front endpaper by the concert pianist Etienne Amyot, "A___ With my love from her friend Etienne Amyot / Christmas in Berlin 1931". Amyot was one of the creators of the BBC's Third Programme. Good .
