The binding is rubbed & lightly bumped. xxxv, 366 & [2] pages with 3 facsimiles,including 1 folding facsimile, in the rear. 4 plates with tissue guards, including a sepia-toned portrait frontispiece. The page edges are slightly darkened. There are a very few pencil markings. Very good.

A beautiful engraving of a lake with wildflowers and a birch tree with delicate branches hanging down in the foreground and a forest on the far side of the lake reflected in the water. At the foot of the image, below a banner reading "Rudolf und Gertrud Lange" is a vignette head of Mercury facing a woman, both heads in profile. Rudolf Lange's signature is on the front endpaper.
