Description: New York: Printed for the Loyal National League, 1863. 1863. - Octavo, softcover bound in printed blue wrappers. The spine & the edges of the wraps are chipped with pieces out. The wraps are darkened along the spine with creasing to their bottom corners. There is an early owner's ink name in the top inner corner of the front wrap & there are some pencil markings on the rear wrap. 32 pages. The page corners are bumped & there is a piece out of the bottom corner of the first leaf. There are pencil markings & underlinings throughout. Ex-library with a library blind stamp on the front wrap. Good working copy.

The Loyal National League was organized by Northern patriots to counteract the propaganda of the Copperhead movement of Southern sympathizers in the border areas of Missouri, Kentucky, southern Illinois and southern Ohio. The purpose of the leagues, which were formed in several northern cities, was to implant loyalty to the federal government and to root out disloyalty. Good .
