Serge Esenine, born Sergei Alexandrovich Yesenin [or Esenin] was a popular Russian lyric poet, who was briefly married to Isadora Duncan. Though he was given a state funeral after he committed suicide, most of his writings were banned by the Kremlin during the reigns of Joseph Stalin and Nikita Khruschev.
