Their mother, on arriving to the city six years later finds them in the house for the insane where, incapable of caring for themselves, they spend their days as monks praying and singing the excelsis deo. The mystery deepens since the nun who was to conduct the orchestra the day of the impending attack was taken ill that day and no one is sure as to who did conduct the music heard by the sons. This short story by the German writer & dramatist Heinrich von Kleist was first published in the 1810 edition of his literary journal "Berliner Abendblatter". Fine .
