An original stapled printed pamphlet,The author, Andrew Dickson White (1832-1918) was an American historian and educator, who was the co-founder of Cornell University and served as its first president for nearly two decades. He was known for expanding the scope of college curriculae. A politician, he had served as state senator in New York. He was later appointed as a US diplomat to Germany and Russia, among other responsibilities. William Jennings Bryan (1860-1925) was an American orator and politician from Nebraska, and a dominant force in the populist wing of the Democratic Party, standing three times as the Party's nominee for President of the United States (1896, 1900, and 1908). He was United states Secretary of State under President Woodrow Wilson but resigned becuase of his pacifist position on World War !. Bryan was a strong advocate of popular democracy, and an enemy of the banks and the gold standard. He demanded 'Free Silver' becuase he believed it undermined the evil 'Money Power' and out more cash in the hands of the common people. There are a few 'nibbles' to the bottom right corner and the paper is slightly age-toned, otherwise the pamphlet is in good plus condition. Originally published in the September, 1896 of the 'Forum', this is a contemporary off-print. .
