Description: Venice, Typographia Balleoniana, 1724. Leather Bound. pp. (x), 311. Tall 4to. Bound in period full leather, with five raised bands and tooled gilt designs to spine title label missing. The binding shows wear, but is quite intact; the most notable defect being a piece of leather excised from the front board and a smaller piece from the rear board. The edges are rubbed, front pastedown partially detached, and the first few pages following are creased. The binding is strong. The contents are remarkably clean and bright. The text is in Latin. This is the first volume ('Tomus Primus') of 'The Canons of Moral Theology' by Father Thomas Francisco Rotarius. This volume is in three 'books' ('continet tres libros') with rubricated first letters for each first chapter of each book, plus head and tail pieces for the first book. This volume published in Venice ('Venetiis'), Italy, in 1724, from the press of Typographia Balleoniana. It has the address to the reader and two official imprimaturs, one dated 1721, the other 1722. .
