Title: Through Three Campaigns a Story of Chitral, Tirah, and Ashantee
Description: London, Blackie & Son, Limited, 1904. Hardcover. pp. 383.8vo,,Bound in illustrated red cloth over bevelled boards,Illustration of man dressed in furs to front board and spine. The earliest printing of this title lacks the mention of the three campaign maps in the list of illustrations, which our copy has; thus this is a subsequent printing of the first edition. See Newbolt 107.1, notes 2 and 3. The boards appear to have a light water stain, causing a slight bleaching of the red cloth, but not affecting the image or gilt lettering. Ink gift inscription and small label on front free endpaper. Hinges tight, although binding very slightly sprung (as is typical with every first edition copy of this title we have seen). Contents unmarked. A good, to good plus, copy. Illustrated by Wal Paget. Three pages of maps. Ending with 32 pages of ads. All edges burnished olive-green. Ill.: maps, b&w illustrations.
