This is the twenty-second edition of the North Central Christmas book, 'And Time Began', containing a selection of poems by former five-time presidential candidate Eugene McCarthy, the congressman, and later, senator from Minnesota. This book was published in 1968, the year McCarthy challenged the incumbent president, Lyndon Johnson, for the nomination of the Democratic party. One wonders how the candidate found time to write these verses and arrange for them to be published. .
