Johanna Constantia Cleve (1800-1821) published her first collection of poems at the age of 13 under the title Jeugdige dichtproeven ( Youthful poetry experiments), 's Gravenhage 1813. Four years later she published Lentebloemen (Spring flowers). Both collections, in addition to a few loose verses, raised expectations of the young poet. That expectation was not fulfilled.
