After exploring India for about a year he returned to Esfahan, where he spent another four months. On his way from Esfahan to Tabriz he became ill and died at Miana in 1667 (Howgego p.1021-1022). Thevenot's travels mark the beginning of the grand epoch of travel and exploration in the Levant (Blackmer 1650). - Interesting description of India. Tiele 1090; Cat. NHSM I, p.257.
