Nice picture book in which the little girl Non and her brother Piet with their babu are the main characters. With 12 full-page coloured plates (in blue, brown and red) next to pages with rhyming text in Dutch and Malay and silhouette-like images printed in red, by Menno van Meeteren Brouwer (1882-1974), an illustrator and cartoonist, who signed his work with 'Menno'. Contents: white children are washed by babu, they drive to the passar, visit the Chinese toko, the kebon fetches water, the car goes to the garage, the children play with the old houseboy, a brown and a white child sit by a pot , they go horseback riding in the mountains, see a coolie hauling, eat rice and go to sleep.
