From 1817 to 1820 the botanist and traveller Martius (1794-1868) travelled in Brazil together with the zoologist Spix (1781-1826). Their journey was a scientific expedition, financed by king Maximillian Joseph I of Bavaria. - Famous slavery print of the Brazilian diamond mines. - Unobtrusive dampstain in margin left lower corner mainly to be seen on verso, few spots in margin, otherwise a very fine copy.
