Externally sound with some shelf wear, and scuffing of extremities and spine and some light rust spotting throughout, especially on the plates. Six divisions in one binding, illustrated with eighteen photogravure plates by Victorian well known Dickens' illustrator Frederick Barnard, illustrating character sketches, as well as other illustrations in text. Includes a handwritten dedication in red ink by GODFRIED BOMANS, founder of the Haarlem Dickens Fellowship, on the former owner and Dickens Scholar William J. Carlton, at the first free endpaper. Incl. a stamp of The Diickens Fellowship 53rd Annual Conference. Amsterdam 19 May 1959.
