Spine with 5 raised bands highlighted with gilt rules. Gilt title: "Longfellow's Poetical Works." Also in gilt (at the base of the spine): "Photographs." Light rubbing to spine and edges. All paged edges bright gilt. Gilt filet border to inisde of each board. Original black endpapers. Frontis: Sepia portrait of H. W. Longfellow. Facing a printed title in dulled gold for "E & S" (Eyre & Spottiswoode). Followed by a further printed title in red & black for Frederick Warne. Clean text throughout within a red-lined border. Illustrated with a further 5 sepia photographs within a black-lined frame and a tissue guard. No ownership details or other marks. Date of publication from date at the end of the "Publisher's Preface." - "London, July 1882." VG.
