Irwell Bank Spinning Company Ltd 'To Abraham Wood Esq' an illuminated presentation manuscript, produced to show appreciation for nine years service as general manager, signed by the chairman and various other nominees, dated July 24th 1909, within a broad gilt mount and moulded frame, under glass 74cm x 54cm overall. The reverse bears an old label for: "George Barnes, Dealer In Works Of Art, Carver Gilder &c. 69 Bradshawgate, Bolton." ** " 1902 'The Irwell Bank Spinning Company have just increased their producing capacity by the erection of two additional pairs of long weft mules. They have now altogether sixty pairs of mules, 48 twist and 12 weft. As the mules are all long ones, the number of spindles all driven by one pair of steam engines is about 139,000. This makes it about the largest mill in the district. There is one containing more mules, but they do not contain as many spindles. The firm are engaged in spinning Egyptian yarns." - Cotton Factory Times - Friday 21 February 1902.
