Polished brown morocco with a a few scuff marks, edges bumped, and corners carefully strengthened. Gilt ruled border, red and gilt corner inlays, blue central quatrefoil with central gilt thistle. Hinges worn, but no cracking. Spine with five raised bands, dulled giltt decorated compartments and gilt title: "Aytoun's Lays". Top & tail of spine carefully strengthened. All page edges bright gilt. Inner gilt dentelles. Marbled endpapers. Small binder's stamp to top of front endpaper: "Maclehose, Glasgow". Gift dedication to front free-endpaper dated 1863. Endpapers lightly foxed. Clear English text and illustrations throughout. Colophon to base of last leaf: "Printed by R & R. Clark, Edinburgh." VG.
