"Early in the eighteenth century, Thomas Hurry, with some members of his family, established themselves at Great Yarmouth, as Hemp and Iron Merchants, and obtained extensive warehouses at the South-West corner of Queens Street, fronting West in the Quay..They were also ship agents, agents for Lloyd's, and Vice-Consuls for Prussia and other foreign powers. His descendants were extentensively engaged in commerce in that town for nearly two centuries.." 23.5cms x 19cms. All edges gilt. Pp.viii/129, double page portrait frontispiece + 12 further black & white portrait plates, 4 crests, marled endpapers, University of London bookplate to inside front board, 'withdrawn' inkstamp to reverse of front free endpaper, small inkstamp to reverse of title page, minor scuffs to rear endpapers.
